Sept. 23, 2009--ORLANDO – Out & Equal Workplace Advocates will bring its annual Workplace Summit – the world’s premier conference on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace equality – to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort from Oct. 6-9.

The Summit, with nearly 2,000 participants from around the world and focused on achieving equitable workplaces, comes as Congress considers critical legislation that would make it federally illegal to discriminate against the LGBT workforce.

The Summit is a powerful experience for everyone who attends, and this year, it’s holds even more special significance as our federal leaders consider passing the inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act – legislation we have advocated for and sought for more than a decade,” says Out & Equal Founding Executive Director Selisse Berry.

This year's event, shaping up to be the best yet, will include plenary sessions showcasing well-known, highly respected presenters, expert panels discussing emerging issues, and more than 100 workshops designed to challenge and empower employee resource group leaders, human resources and diversity professionals, and senior executives.

This Summit’s speaker lineup is impressive, including Sharon L. Allen, Deloitte's Board Chair, John Berry, the highest-ranking LGBT official in President Barack Obama's administration as the Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, Kevin Brockman, Executive Vice President of Global Communications for Disney-ABC, and Kenji Yoshino, author of "Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights."

The Summit provides a rich series of opportunities for companies and their employees to strengthen relationships, reinforce organizational values, and demonstrate that their workplaces are where LGBT employees and the people that support them can be fully productive and appreciated for the talent they bring, all in an environment of serious learning,” Berry says.
