With newspapers and magazines folding one issue at a time, the current generational boom has quite obviously been the rise of the blog. This trend has been catching on for quite some time now, not to mention social networking sites and online magazines being on everyone’s computer screens lately. However, this is a trend that most frankly, is here to stay. From the self predicated interior designer blogging about his or her furniture finds, to fashion bloggers front row at an Alexander McQueen show, there are plenty to choose from with a click of a mouse. With so many options, there needs to be a technique to shine amongst a sky of stars. One standing out specifically from the rest of the food blogs, is Natalie Shirinian’s, specifically titled, Femme on Feast. The fast spreading popularity of this blog is creating quite a following due to its subject matter as a popular social phenomenon.

Femme on Feast, showcases Natalie’s love of dining out frequently, and shares with the world her experiences while feasting with amazing women in the realms of film, fashion, entertainment, and more, amongst female operated restaurants, and bars, as well as interviewing female chefs from all walks of life. From Los Angeles, to San Francisco, and New York, her blog delves into the most lavish and exclusive of feasts, to the most effortless, all amongst the great company of women that truly bring something distinctive to the table. The moment I sat down with Susan Feniger, while she sent her best dishes to our table, I knew I was going somewhere with this. Offering quite an impressive line up to say the least, featured is an in depth look inside chef Nancy Silverton's empire, lunch with chef Susan Feniger and her film-maker partner Liz Lachman, a cozy start-up in the heart of Downtown LA called The Must Bar, and an inside look at what makes for a great restaurant from executive chef Alex Guarnaschelli of Butter restaurant. With so many more topics lined up on her plate, Natalie is planning to take her concept to a global level.

From a young age I was not aware that my palette was being prepared to appreciate all forms of cuisine. Sure there was a look of apprehension on my face when my mother was serving up delicacies such as Cow's liver, Borscht and bone marrow for dinner. Interestingly enough, today I look for Bone Marrow, my favorite dish, at a restaurantThis blog in hindsight, is a thank you to my mother, and my grandmother’s for making the dinner table a necessary symbol of family, and conversation. Now, at the age of 27, along with Femme on Feast, Natalie’s background includes, contributing for Paper and SOMA magazine, and a co-collaboration called the www.theconfessionals.tv.

With the current foodie phenomenon catching on globally, starting such a blog as Femme on Feast is only relevant. To be amongst the female celebrities of the culinary world, along with the up and comers, Femme on Feast celebrates and publicizes these women who are working hard, day in and day out. So many male chefs get mass appeal and are always in the limelight, I believe its time for the ladies to shine.
