• The national gay & lesbian wedding resource,RainbowWeddingNetwork.com, has announced that the company will be producing four GLBTQ Wedding & Family Expos in California this summer, in celebration of the May 15th ruling by the state Supreme Court in favor of same-sex marriage.

June 13, 2008 -- RainbowWeddingNetwork.com celebrates the May 15th ruling in California, adding four events to its summer calendar focused on supporting same-sex couples throughout the Golden State as they plan for their weddings.  Preparations are well underway for four back-to-back GLBTQ Wedding Expos in San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Long Beach.  Over forty local wedding vendors will participate in each event, who actively support equal rights in marriage.  Other highlights include Music, Fashion, Planning Tips, Samples and Informative Presentations about the issues concerning equality in marriage and adoption for the GLBTQ community.  Admission is free, and all supporters of non-discrimination are encouraged to attend.

"The ruling by the California Supreme Court will be felt all across the country," says Cindy Sproul, co-owner of RainbowWeddingNetwork.com.  "Given that California has no limitations for out-of-state residents who wish to marry, this ruling will impact the state's economy more broadly than many people now realize.  And politically, it will have highly charged consequences either pro-Equal Rights or anti-Equal Rights, from individuals, couples and organizations well beyond the West Coast."  Sproul has worked in the GLBTQ community for over twelve years and launched RainbowWeddingNetwork.com with her partner Marianne Puechl in 2000.  To date, the company has produced 19 Expos all across America.  Sproul continues, "The topic of marriage rights is such a hot-button issue, more states than ever (including California in November) are considering legislation banning same-sex partnerships.  We all need to work together, the gay and lesbian community as well as our allies, to enact lasting change in the arena of Tolerance."

The four events in California this July will include RainbowWeddingNetwork's new initiative, the Same Love, Same Rights® Mobile Marriage Summit.  A rally and open forum for the public, one of the Summit's main goals is to identify activities that individuals can take part in immediately, to create mass change in favor of equal rights for the GLBTQ community.  Those attending the rally will have the opportunity to share their ideas on the issues and learn new ways to get involved, both at the state and national levels. Other Mobile Marriage Summit rallies are scheduled for 2008 in Atlanta, St. Petersburg and New York City.

Expo attendees will have the chance to mingle with dozens of gay-friendly wedding professionals, as well as those in the travel, gift and home-planning industries, such as realtors, lawyers and adoption agencies.  Married & engaged guests will also be invited to add a photograph to the Commitment Photo Album,™ an ongoing project to document GLBTQ couples and their families throughout the nation.  Dates and venues for the July Expos are: Sunday July 13th at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway in San Francisco; Sacramento (further details TBA); Sunday July 20th at the Luxe Hotel in Los Angeles and Wednesday July 23rd at the EBM Japanese Garden at CSU in Long Beach.

Launched in 2000, RainbowWeddingNetwork.com (RWN) has grown to become the most extensive wedding resource for the gay and lesbian community in the United States. RWN produced its first GLBTQ Wedding Expo in 2003 and released the national Rainbow Wedding Network Magazine in 2006.  To date, RWN has produced nineteen different events in twelve states.
